Athletics Tanzania (AT ) is the national governing body handling all affairs of running events including track and field and marathons. It was established in 1954 and started sending athletes to the Olympic Games since 1964 Tokyo Games.
Tanzania first participated at the Olympic Games in 1964, and has sent athletes to compete in every Summer Olympic Games since then, except for the boycotted 1976 Games. The nation has never participated in the Winter Olympic Games. Tanzanian athletes have won a total of two medals, both in athletics. one silver medal went to our legend Filbert Bayi in Moscow (Men's 3000 metre Steeplechase 1980) and Suleiman Nyambui got silver medal in (men's 5000 metres in Moscow 1980).
